Half-asleep poem (a poem)

Typed this on my laptop this morning as I was drifting in and out of sleep…

My eyes won’t stay open
my personal journey through time and space
in an altered state
awaits

What might I see along the way?
It doesn’t matter
I always forget so quickly
I don’t know what I saw

Words in Russian
cross my vision
I don’t know what they mean
I can’t chase them down

Strip down to the core
darkness is not depth
but a sign
you may not know

I don’t have to know
though I’d like to be sure
when she waves me along
it’s to meet me there

Hazy spots on the murky print
call out the age of the picture
It’s torn at the edges
soon it may be proof

that I was here
