The corners of my room (a poem)

Based on a phrase I read online, combined with the title of the piece of music I posted yesterday (and am currently listening to again).

I wish the rain would fall
so the sound could lull me to sleep
as it washed away the sorrow of the day

We could have been stronger than ever
now I’m here alone
trying to keep it together

I feel a cool breeze sweep over my skin
It’s already past midnight—again
so quiet I can hear every little thing

I remember you would barely look at me
half-mumbled something or other
as long as you didn’t have to know

Those far-off sirens are part of the song
and the wind chimes coming from the other side
as the cool breeze sweeps over my skin

Clean laundry piles up on the bed
the cat doesn’t mind
I just can’t be bothered

I wish the rain would fall
so the sound could lull me to sleep
drowning the few memories left
