National Poetry Writing Month: Day #17 (April 17, 2013)

Today’s prompt: a greeting poem. Finally, something I can get behind…

My new life.
So far?
Same as my old life.
But this one
has possibilities
unlike before.

It’s only
a choice,
same as my old life.
But this one
might give me a new lease,
a stronger voice.

There is no
witness—
same as my old life.
But this time
someone might see me
out the darkness.

So now I
wonder,
same as my old life.
But this time
there’s the possibility
I may find an answer.

So, good morning to the new day
with its bright rays of sun,
casting shadows and reflections,
casting out darkness,
ushering in a new era—
unlike my old life.
