National Poetry Writing Month: Day #7 (April 7, 2013)

Today’s prompt: write a poem in which each line takes the form of a single, declarative sentence, except for the last one, which should be in the form of a question. Harder than it sounds, but…

It is morning again.
I drift back and forth between dreams and the new day.
The border between the two is porous, inviting.
My movement is effortless.
As I slide back in, a warmth envelops me.
My troubles don’t matter; for the moment, I am free.
I awake to the light coming through the windows.
Today, can I be free?
