National Poetry Writing Month: Day #6 (April 6, 2013)

Today’s writing prompt: a valediction. Now I know what valedictorian means, after all these years.

My first couple of attempts really went nowhere. The first try was just dull; the second had no direction. The third attempt, however…

Say goodbye
to the dream

Abandon
the plan

Wake up
stop dreaming

The end is near
Let it begin

Hold the moment
just for a moment
then let it go

Sunk costs
are irrelevant

Then
does not count

There
does not count

Back when…
does not count

For the longest time…
does not count

Wake up
stop dreaming

Say goodbye
to the dream

Abandon
the plan

The dream is over
Let now begin

(6 April 2013)
